ABOUT
I am a Muslim author, speaker and campaigner. My work focuses around building bridges and promoting dialogue between Islam and other faiths.
EDUCATION
I was born in Karachi in 1974, where I was educated at Habib Public School, DJ Science College, and Government College of Commerce & Economics. I then attended Birmingham City University, UK, where I gained the degrees of Master of Business Administration and Post graduate Diploma in Marketing. After completing continuous professional development, I was awarded the Chartered Marketer status by the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
CAREER
After completing my education, I worked in various social marketing roles in the UK and managed diversity and social cohesion programmes working for Professor Chris Mullard, at Focus Consultancy.
BUILDING BRIDGES, BREAKING DOWN BARRIERS
While in the United Kingdom, I have led activities for the International Islamic Propagation Center, held interfaith roles as Muslim Development Officer at LSC Faiths in Further Education Development Programme; Programme Resources Development Coordinator at the International Association of Religious Freedom, Oxford, and Muslim contributing member of Birmingham Council of Faiths.
I have direct experience of establishing, maintaining and developing community partnerships on behalf of public organisations and a track record of successful delivery of communication and engagement campaigns for clients including; the Learning & Skills Council; Department for Education & Skills; Department of Health; British Army; National Blood Service; Arts Council of England; The Home Office; European Union and National Ecumenical Agency For Further Education.
WRITING INTERESTS
My research and writing interests include; religious texts, interfaith interaction, comparative religion, and community cohesion. I have been a speaker on issues as varied as small business; education, adoption & fostering, diversity, interfaith and racism.
SPORTS
My other interests include sports, as I am keen on hockey. I have English Hockey Association Coaching Qualifications and currently coach National Hockey Club, Karachi, Pakistan.
